Director of Finance
R. Allen Foster, Jr. is the Director of Finance at Councilor, bringing nearly 20 years of experience across finance, accounting, and organizational management. He works closely with firm leaders to provide financial analysis and actionable insight, supporting informed decision-making across complex organizational and stakeholder structures. At Councilor, Allen oversees core financial and accounting functions, including management reporting, revenue and cost accounting, process automation, vendor management, and systems implementation, with a focus on strengthening financial performance and strategic planning.
Prior to joining Councilor, Allen served as Director of Finance and Accounting at Delta Consulting Group Inc., where he served as Chief Financial Officer and Firm Administrator for a multinational expert witness firm with offices across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Spain. In this role, he led global financial management and reporting, including treasury, payroll, accounts payable, budgeting, and financial planning and analysis.
Earlier in his career, Allen held senior finance leadership roles in healthcare, including Controller at George Washington Medical Faculty Associates and AVP of Finance/CFO for Inova Medical Group. In these positions, he managed financial operations for large physician organizations, overseeing capital budgeting, revenue cycle analysis, and financial reporting.
He began his career in public accounting at Watkins Meegan (now CohnReznick), where he led healthcare consulting engagements and provided interim controller and CFO services to clients.
