Reema Patel, CPA, CFP

Partner, Director & CCO of Councilor Wealth

Professional Summary

Reema Patel is both a Partner and the Director and Chief Compliance Officer of Councilor Wealth. She draws on more than 10 years of experience in public accounting to support clients in the automotive dealership, not-for-profit, and professional services industries.

Reema’s primary areas of focus include tax planning and compliance, research, audit and assurance, reviews, compilations, and employee benefit plan services. In all her work, she establishes trust from day one to understand what clients may be struggling with or looking to achieve.

Reema joined Councilor in 2014 and has made trust and patience her guiding principles while helping clients achieve their goals. She serves as a Director and the Chief Compliance Officer for the firm’s financial planning practice and its fee-only wealth management arm, Councilor Wealth, where she uses her background as a Certified Financial Planner to provide consulting and recommendations on investment allocations and management, retirement strategies, and trust and estate planning.

A graduate of the Greater Washington Society of CPAs’ Margaret DeBoe Leadership Development Program, as well as Upstream Academy’s Emerging Leaders Academy, Reema’s management, communication, and leadership talents have been essential to Councilor’s success. She was a key driver behind the firm’s business plan to offer financial planning services to Generation X and Y professionals — work that ultimately enabled a new client model for the future of the firm. As co-director of Councilor’s diversity and inclusion initiative, D-PATH (Diversity – Professional Accountants and Advisors Transforming the Horizon), she has also provided leadership and business development, networking, and empowerment programming for women and minority professionals throughout the firm.
